Projects
MARV
Modular Avionics for Rockets and Vehicles — the next-generation flight computer for the UTRGV Rocket Launchers, succeeding Brunito. A dual-core RP2350 platform with a Rust firmware stack and a custom sensor suite. Drag to explore the boards in 3D; use the arrows to switch boards.

PORTFOLIO SITE
A refresh of my personal portfolio website, emphasizing scalable architecture and modern web development practices. Built with TypeScript and React, styled with Tailwind CSS, hosted on Render.

BRUNITO
Comprehensive multi-board flight computer system and ground station for advanced rocketry telemetry. Implemented dual-board architecture with multiple sensors and real-time communication protocols using LoRa radio.
Jobtron
MCP server + Web app that allows users to autofill online job applications by extracting application information and using AI agents to fill them with resume information. Streamlines the job application process significantly.

I'm Luis Martinez, an avionics and software engineer based in Weslaco, Texas. I build flight software, embedded hardware, and the guidance, navigation and control systems that tie them together. I hold a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV).
I got into programming by modding games and building simple websites, and that curiosity never left. Before UTRGV, I earned an Associate's degree in Computer Science from South Texas College and worked as an IT analyst, supporting networks, hardware and backups for small businesses.
From 2024 to 2026 I was the Avionics Lead for Rocket Launchers at UTRGV, leading the team's flight software, embedded hardware, telemetry and integration work. I developed the MARV flight computer, worked with the structures, propulsion and recovery leads to bring our avionics to flight readiness, and took our systems to competitions including Lone Star and IREC. Along the way I competed in hackathons and made a habit of learning by building.
Today I'm focused on flight control systems and localization for robotics, including the next revision of MARV. This site documents that work: the setbacks as much as the successes.
